382 delegates are expected to vote the next Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party in the northern region slated on Friday, May 27, 2022, in Tamale.
As stipulated in Article 9(25) of the NPP constitution, the composition of the voters are prescribed as follows: All Members of the Regional Executive Committee, NPP Members of Parliament in the region, Members of all Constituency Executive Committees, all regional representatives to the National Council, the ten Regional Council of Elders, one TESCON member from each recognized tertiary institution in the region, ten Patrons in the region and any founding member from the region who is a signatory to the registration documents of the party at the Electoral Commission.
Secretary to the Northern Region Elections Committee, Elvis Botah, in a statement on Tuesday (May 24, 2022) said the conference would be held at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium against the committee’s earlier decision to organize the event at the Modern City Hotel.
Meanwhile, Mr. Botah indicated only delegates, aspirants with their two agents and three supporters, EC officials, accredited media stations, assigned security officers, members of the regional executive committee and accredited invited guests would be allowed into the conference venue.
He added that campaigning on the conference grounds will not be entertained and stated, “Delegates are also reminded to desist from using their mobile phones to snap their ballots in the voting booth”.
“We take this opportunity to wish all aspirants the best and to assure them that we shall put in all necessary things in place to ensure their security and smooth processes towards a successful election” Mr. Botah assured.
