The Tamale Interchange construction project is about 62% complete, the Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu has announced.
He said in spite of the inconveniences associated with the construction, the government is committed and working hard to ensure the completion of the project by the end of the year.
Addressing a congregation of Muslims at the Tamale Central Mosque during this year’s Eid-ul Fitr prayers, Alhaji Shani further reiterated the Akufo-Addo led administration’s determination to also complete all other ongoing infrastructure projects.
“We are also determined to ensure that all on-going projects in all sectors, education, health, roads, agriculture are completed on time, indeed we have made some progress, but we need to do more” he stressed.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in April 2019 cut sod for the construction of the flyover in Tamale, first of its kind in the five regions of northern Ghana.
The $500 million project is being executed under the $2 billion Sinohydro Master Project Support Agreement (MPSA) deal.
The President at the ground breaking ceremony explained through a barter arrangement, Ghana will enjoy a $2 billion worth of some priority infrastructure projects across the country in exchange for the delivery of Ghanaian manufactured aluminium products to Sinohydro.
However, the Northern Regional Minister implored Ghanaians to cooperate with the government to deliver on its plans and policy initiatives and programmes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
“Brother and Sisters, as we celebrate this day, we require your maximum cooperation to deliver on all our plans and programmes. Let the end of the Ramadan be a renewal for us not only in the spiritual realm but also socially. Let us pray that the Almighty will continue to give us good health and open the opportunities for progress and prosperity for the benefit of the society and our country” he added.
