The Business Senior High School Old Students Association (BOSA) over the weekend held their second homecoming as part of preparations to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the school next year.
The occasion was for BOSA members to reunite several years of leaving the school, take of stock of events and put in place measures to raise funds for the 2023 celebration.
Headmistress of BISCO, Madam Suzana Fati Ibrahima said the school has transformed over the years to become one of the best second cycle schools in the country though it started as a secretariat school.
“Our performance hasn’t been bad by the grace of God, in fact, we have renewable energy competition; BISCO won last year to represent the northern region and we have won again this year, so we would be going to Kumasi to represent the region.
“There are many other achievements of the school, we have one of our science students who performed well and had an admission to the UDS Medical School this year” she proudly stated.
Madam Susana indicated the school is producing more science students despite that the name of the school still stands Business Senior High.
“So it is no more Business as a school, though, the name still stands as Business Senior High School, we’re bringing out a lot of science students who are performing wonderfully and we hope to see more doctors for our nation apart from the bankers and engineers” the headmistress emphasized.
The Business Senior High School presently has a student population of about 2,330 and offers Home Economics, Business, General Science and General Arts.
The headmistress seized the opportunity to commend the old students for their continuous investment and support to the school.
“I appreciate the contribution of BOSA to the school both as individuals and groups. God richly bless you for the sick bay, refurbishment of my new office by the 1990 year group and many other donations like a flat screen TV to the science department and cash from Mawums for last year’s science and maths quiz” she mentioned.
Madam Suzana Fati Ibrahima however pointed out that the school still requires some infrastructure and learning materials for effective teaching and learning.
National President of Bisco Old Students Association (BOSA), Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen noted the homecoming was necessary old students to interact amongst themselves and the current students.
“We are here as Homecoming to bring old students together and to urged the presents students to study hard; when they see us as very responsible people it will motivate them to work harder. It is not where you are but what you are, so they should dream big, they shouldn’t sleep and get married to their books and whatever it is, they would achieve their aims” he admonished.
