Authorities of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) in the northern region have officially launched its Golden Jubilee celebration on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

The anniversary will be celebrated on the theme: Celebrating 50 years of Holistic Education, the NOBISCO story.  

Headmaster of the School, Mr. Alhassan Issah Dokurugu, in his welcome address, indicated the existence of the institution in the past five decades signifies resilience, flexibility and relevance.

He noted, “50 years back, the founding fathers established the school with a vision, mission and a set of ideas, the launch is not so much of a festivity, rather, it is a solemn occasion to pause and look back at this 50 years journey closely and ask the question; have we lived up to the vision, mission and ideals on which the school was founded?

“It is also a moment to look ahead at the mountains to still climb in our bid to produce productive and functional human capital for our dear nation Ghana” he added.

Mr. Dokurugu further paid a glowing tribute to the founder of the school, Mr. Alex Samuel Attah, the Choggu traditional authority, the government of Ghana, staff, Parent Teacher Association, old students and all personalities who have been very critical in bringing the school thus far.

The Northern School of Business has a student population of over 3000 and 227 teaching and non-teaching permanent staff working in the institution. It runs four courses, which are: Business, General Arts, Home Economics and General Science.

Advice to Stakeholders

The Headmaster said for school management to give their best to enhance the performance of students, all stakeholders’ needs to continue working harder in the provision of the critical needs of the school.

“I want to remind stakeholders that, for school management to be able to give the best to students, it is established that stakeholders needs to contribute more average; on the strength of stakeholders needing to contribute more average, I put it to all gathered here that, Northern School of Business will love it, appreciate it and do more in providing quality holistic education if the school is provided with critical facilities” he emphasized.

The Deputy Minister for Energy and MP for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, who was the guest of honour for the occasion, for his part, commended all stakeholders who have contributed in diverse forms for the growth in the school.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, he noted has been touched with the news that school has converted its dining hall to a boy dormitory and assured a new boys dormitory will be built for the school to mark the celebration of the 50th anniversary.

The lawmaker further presented an amount of GHS10,000 as his personal support to the school cadet in preparation for the anniversary. He said this would enable the cadet team to acquire boots and other logistics needed for the display during celebration next November.

In addition, Dr Adam also donated another GHS10,000 to support the rehabilitation of the campus WC facility which is in a distress state.

He however encouraged all and sundry to support the organization of the anniversary in kind and cash to ensure a befitting celebration of the 50th anniversary of a school that has contributed so much to the development of the nation.

The Karaga Member of Parliament also seized the opportunity to commended the Chief of Sagnarigu, Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai, for prioritizing education in his traditional jurisdiction and all other Chiefs in the region for their immense to the educational sector over the years.
