The Member of Parliament for Gushegu Constituency who doubles as Deputy Minister for Transport, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, has cut sod for the construction of a Senior High School at Kpatinga. The move is aimed at bringing access to second cycle education to the doorsteps of the people.

The H&N Company Limited has been contracted to build the 2-storey 12-unit classroom block with two offices at the ground floor and also two offices at the first floor.

The contractor, Mr. Fuseini Abdulai explained to THE CUSTODIAN the project is expected to be completed within eight months.

“We were awarded this contract in the later part of last year to construct a 12-unit classroom block for the proposed Kpatinga SHS.”

He however called on the community elders and residents to give him their maximum support in order for him to work expeditiously to meet the contract duration without any delays.

The MP in his remarks was optimistic some other facilities will come on stream before the completion of the 12-unit classroom block.

“I have written to different agencies for support and I have received positive response from some of them and very like before we complete this one, we’re likely to have some additional facilities come on stream to support the commencement of the senior high school here in Kpatinga.”

The lawmaker stated the Gushegu municipality has only one SHS compared to its peers where there two or more senior high schools argued based on the population of the municipality [which is over 100,000], the Kpatinga SHS is well deserving one which will complement the Gushegu SHS.

“The school maybe called Kpatinga Senior High School but it’s supposed to be for the entire zone – a number of communities here, almost with the population close to 30,000 if not even more and I believe that the people of Kpatinga strongly deserve to have a senior high school to serve this enclave” he emphasized.
