The NEW Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Lawyer Sule Sambian has assured investors that the Northern ecological zone is a viable destination for their investments.

Meeting with officials from the United Kingdom (UK) Department of Business and Trade in Tamale last Wednesday, Mr. Sambian reiterated the mandate of the NDA was to facilitate the development of Northern Ghana.

“I have come at a time that the story is not too good but I am not willing to focus on the past, I am looking into the future – looking into the future with hope. I want to leave a legacy here”, he stated.

According to him, the NDA has the technical experts competent enough to propel the needed transformation and assured the authority is in a pole position to collaborate with development partners and the investor community to realize their mandate.

The legal practitioner believes what the authority requires is the support of all stakeholders including the media and in his view there is no justifiable reason for the NDA to fail.

Mr. Sambian maintained “there are a number of low-hanging fruits that we can tap to facilitate development in the north” and gave his personal commitment to provide the required leadership for the organization to succeed.

Mr. Dwight Godlove Otoo, Investment Advisor and Deputy Country Director, UK Department for Business and Trade, in his remarks explained the essence of the meeting was to explore the potential investment opportunities in Northern Ghana in order to share information with UK investors for their considerations.

He said it was obvious that the north has significant investment opportunities in agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure, trade among others, adding the overall objective of it is to create jobs, opportunities and broader development in the northern part of the country.

Meanwhile, the NDA officials took turns to highlight the various viable investment opportunities in the northern ecological zone in the areas of agriculture, tourism, trade and industrialization, housing among others.

The authority also assured of facilitating the acquisition of land devoid of any controversy or litigation for international investors coming to invest in the area.
