The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to clampdown on drivers without valid license in the Northern Region. The exercise is in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulations 47, 158 of L.I 2180 of 2012.

The DVLA Northern Regional Manager, Abdulai Mutawakil, in a statement sighted by THE CUSTODIAN said th exercise will cover drivers driving without original license, drivers who do not have license at all and drivers with expired license.

THE CUSTODIAN has learnt drivers with photocopied license, drivers with fake license and those using wrong class of license would be impounded as well.

Mr. Mutawakil said the authority from May 1 will no longer allow drivers to perpetuate such infractions on the road emphasizing this includes all road users using vehicles.

“No exemptions except vehicles with Police, Prisons, Fire, CEPS, Military and Immigration registered number plates” he stated.
