Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has resolved to win the upcoming Kumawu by-election in the Ashanti region.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Frank Amoakohene, said the main opposition party will snatch the Kumawu parliamentary seat from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the Kumawu branch of the NDC is readying for a by-election.

The Kumawu seat became vacant following the death of NPP MP for the constituency, Mr. Philip Atta Basoah last Tuesday after a short illness.

Mr Amoakohene in an interview said the NDC can take over the seat with hard work and unity in the Constituency.

He appealed to the people of Kumawu to rally behind the NDC and support them with overwhelming votes.

Mr Amoakohene also expressed his condolences to the family, the wife and children of late MP as well as the people of Kumawu.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has declared the Kumawu seat vacant last week in parliament.

He accordingly entreated the Electoral Commission (EC) to put in place measures for a by-election.
