The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted a nine member committee in accordance with Article 10(3)(F)(ii) of the party’s constitution to vet the aspiring Presidential aspirants.

The Steering Committee of the party took the decision acting for and on behalf of the National Council at an emergency meeting held on May 30, 2023.

A statement signed by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on June 30, said upon further consultations has appointed former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye, as chairman for the vetting committee.

The other members of the committee are; Hon Kwesi Amoako Atta, Mr. Stephen Abankwa Sekyere and Hon Osei Bonsu Amoah.

The rest are Lawyer Frank Davies, Lord Oblitey Commey, Rita Talata Asobayire, Hon Hackman Owusu-Agyeman and Madam Adelaide Ahwireng.

The committee’s primary responsibility is to thoroughly examine and assess the ten prospective presidential candidates who have submitted their forms to ran for the presidency.

The vetting process is significant and crucial for the party to ascertain whether or not the individuals are good standing members eligible for the upcoming election.
