Madam Felicia Tetteh, the presumptive Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party has announced that work will soon begin for the construction of an ultramodern Sagnarigu Community Centre and a multipurpose Astro Turf facility.

Addressing the Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu, Naa Ambassador Abdulai Yakubu and his elders Wednesday, July 19, Mrs. Tetteh said the government will in no time commence the construction works.

“You will recall that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when he came in 2020 promised that if I was voted to become the Member of Parliament, the Hilaaliya school park was going to be converted to a modern Astro turf park. Though I didn’t win, he said he will still fulfill that promised and Insha Allah, he has approved for the construction of the facility” she stated.

She noted the facility when completed will bring a lot of benefits to the people and they can also hold the annual Islamic celebrations among other religious activities and social events at the facility.

Madam Felicia said despite that she did not secure the mandate of the people in 2020 to represent them in Parliament, she has not abandoned the constituency and still continues to improve the socioeconomic livelihood of the people by providing machine tools to equip apprentices who are graduating from their training.

“…I have not abandoned the constituency and the people of Sagnarigu after the 2020 elections; I have continued to offer my support to women groups and the youth, I have provided tailors and hairdressing machines and tools to young women anytime they are passing out from their apprenticeship and I have also constructed several mechanized boreholes for some of the communities” she emphasized.

The Businesswoman cum politician said her priority is the development of the constituency and urged the people to vote her in 2024 after which they can change her if she fails to deliver on her mandate.

Madam Felicia Tetteh made the appeal when she presented her nomination forms to the Sagnari Naa seeking his blessings and prayers to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections.

She also paid similar courtesy calls on the Sagnarigu Zongo Chief among sub-Chiefs within the Sagnarigu traditional area in the company of the NPP Regional Organizer among other bigwigs.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Northern Development Authority (NDA), Lawyer Sule Sambian, who was part of the entourage together with the consultant for the Astro turf project gave an assurance that work on the project will begin by September 2023.

“I came with the consultant [Godwin], I am hopeful that by the end of this month they will be done with the bills and then we go through the procurement processes, I can assure you by September we should start work on the Astro turf.”

Mr. Sambian disclosed eight other infrastructure projects are expected to commence in the Sagnarigu constituency through the NDA.

For his part, Naa Ambassador Abdulai Yakubu said he had no doubt that the projects would be delivered, recounting a similar promised by the government to construct a training center in the area is far advanced.

“They have mentioned Dr Bawumia and I want to say we’re grateful to him because it’s through his initiative that the Zongo Development Fund is building a training [to train our people in vocational skills] and we call on him again to ensure this is realized” he appealed.

Nevertheless, the Sagnari Naa in his remarks admonished politicians to focus on the development aspirations of the north and also advised them to shy away from doing chieftaincy politics.
