Madam Felicia Tetteh, the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the Sagnarigu constituency has been unanimously tipped by the rank and file of the party to go unopposed in the Parliamentary primaries.
The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, together with the Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, Mr. Francis Tetteh, the spouse of Madam Felicia among party bigwigs on Thursday, July 13, picked the nomination forms on her behalf to ran once again for the Sagnarigu seat in 2024.
The Sagnarigu NPP Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Musah Dangooma, in his remarks affirmed that Felicia Tetteh will be the first NPP candidate in 2024 to be declared victorious in the northern region.
He described the MP hopeful as a unifier, stating she has brought unity among the rank and file of the party in the constituency. Therefore, the Chairman added the party is solidly behind her to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections.
Chairman Dangooma however cautioned against individuals transferred their votes outside the constituencies to desist from such actions as it is detrimental to the fortunes of the party in the area.
The Regional Minister said the Sagnarigu constituency is winnable seat for the governing party in 2024 and the party will work extra hard to achieve that.
“I am appealing to the constituents to maintain the peace, unity and calm that we are observing in the constituency – that is very significant for us to win this seat. In 2020 elections, she performed creditably well, from zero polling stations to 44 polling stations and I am saying that with some effort and unity, we should be able to flip some 30 or 40 polling stations to ensure we lay our hands on the seat” he stated.
According to Alhaji Shani, Sagnarigu is winnable and doable for the New Patriotic Party, thereby reiterating the need for the party to stay united and focus on the goal in order to deliver the seat for the party.
Meanwhile, the 2012 NPP Sagnarigu Parliamentary Candidate who is now a member of the constituency Council of Elders, Alhaji Yakubu Abdul Karim, said Felicia Tetteh going unopposed will enable the party to prepare very early and also save the scarce resources to campaign for the 2024 polls.
“We want to consolidate our gains in the 2020 general elections, what happened in the election was unprecedented as far as the NPP is concerned in Sagnarigu. Madam Felicia won 44 ballot boxes leaving 100, it means we still have a long way to go. We must wake each other up from electoral area coordinators, women organizers and polling station executives” he added.
Meanwhile, some grassroot NPP executives have also affirmed that Mrs. Tetteh is the best candidate for the party to wrestle for the seat and win it for the first time from the National Democratic Congress since it was curved out of Tamale North constituency in 2012.
