Traditional leaders in the Sagnarigu constituency have prayed for Madam Felicia Tetteh to be successful in her quest to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2024 general elections. The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary aspirant embarked on a tour of the constituency to present her nomination forms to the Chiefs, seeking their blessings and support to lead the party and eventually become the Member of Parliament for the area.

“I have come to you today to seek your wise counsel, prayers and blessings. Even though I did not win in 2020, we did our best but God said it was not our time” she said.

Addressing the Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu, Naa Ambassador Abdulai Yakubu and his elders last Wednesday, July 19, the NPP Member of Parliament hopeful intimated that contemporary politics is about development and it does not matter your background and urged the people to try her as well.

“Many people have said Felicia is not a Dagomba but we’re all part of Naa Gbewaa lineage. I was born and raised in Sagnarigu, I schooled in Sagnarigu since infancy, married in Sagnarigu and working in Sagnarigu. Even my father was buried on the land of Sagnarigu, and I have nowhere to go, so Sagnarigu is my home” she stated.

“If you vote me in 2024 to go into Parliament and I am not able to deliver on my mandate to meet your aspirations, there will justifiable grounds to change me” Madam Felicia said.

However, she said work will soon commence for the construction of a multipurpose Astro turf and the Sagnarigu Community Centre.

“…The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when he came here during the 2020 campaign said if I was elected the MP, the government was going to convert the Hilaaliyah school park into an Astro turf and though I didn’t win but he has approved for the project to be constructed” she disclosed.

“I have not abandoned the constituency, I continue to support my fellow women, I provide tailors and hairdressers anytime they are passing out for them to earn a living. I have also help in constructing boreholes in some of the communities to improve access to quality drinking water” she added.

Meanwhile, Naa Ambassador Abdulai Yakubu for his part commended the government for the numerous infrastructure development in the municipality.

He also admonished politicians to embrace peace and unity and also be tolerant of divergent views, adding politicians is a contest of ideas and not meant for violence.

“It is here in the North where people perceive their political opponents as enemies. Politics is not about enmity; I know someone who have his children in the NPP and NDC and another one in the CPP; they all live harmoniously in the family” he said.

Madam Felicia paid similar courtesy calls on the Sagnarigu Zongo Chief, Alhaji Musah Yahuza, the Gulkpe Naa, Choogu Naa among other traditional leaders in the constituency.

The delegation is made up of both Regional and Constituency executives, government appointees, party faithful and friends of the NPP MP hopeful.
