Leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the northern region has congratulated the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for his election as the 2024 presidential candidate of the party. According to the Regional Executives, the hardwork, dedication and unwavering commitment of Dr Bawumia to serve the governing party have not gone unnoticed.

A statement signed by the Regional Director of Communications, Mr. Yussif Danjumah, said the exceptional leadership skills and vision of the Vice President for the future of the party have resonated with the party members which has manifested in the outcome of November 4 internal presidential primaries.

He emphasized that the victory is well-deserved and marks an important milestone in the political career of the celebrated economics.

“Your exceptional leadership skills and vision for a better future have resonated with the party members, and your win is a testament to the trust and confidence they have in you. This victory is well-deserved and marks an important milestone in your political career and history” the statement stressed.

Mr. Danjumah also expressed confidence that under the guidance and leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party will continue to flourish and bring positive change to the nation.

“We are confident that under your guidance and leadership, the New Patriotic Party will continue to flourish and bring positive change to our beloved nation.  Your passion for progress, inclusivity, and development will inspire many and set a new standard in politics.”

Meanwhile, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, November 4, 2023, was elected as Flagbearer to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for next year’s general election.

He polled 118, 210 votes representing 61.47% to win the election. His closest contender, Ken Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central had 71,996 votes representing 37.41%.

The other two contestants in the race, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto placed a distant third with 1,459 votes representing 0.76% while Francis Addai Nimoh managed only 731 votes representing 0.41%.
