The African Numerals System and Programmes has honored former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, for the significant contributions he made during his tenure of office to promote and transform the country’s tourism sector.

The group maintains that the former Minister during his three years stay in office did a lot of developmental work and initiatives which witnessed the tourism sector contributing meaningfully to the country’s GDP growth.

Mr. Amadu Hudu, the Inventor/Author of the African Numerals System and Programmes at a short ceremony held last week in Tamale presented a branded customized wall clock which was received on behalf of the former Business Development Minister.

“We are today very pleased to present African Numerals branded wall clock to Hon. Alhaji, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who has done a lot of developmental work for Ghana and the entire Africa at large through the promotion of tourism, arts and culture.”

Dr Awal during his tenure as the Tourism Minister launched a 100 million Ghana cedis tourism enterprise project to support young entrepreneurs in the sector. He also introduced several other initiatives to boost the tourism ecosystem in the country.

Mr. Amadu in his remarks said his outfit has thus far produced learning materials with African numerals for effective teaching and learning at the lower basic level.

He disclosed that the group has already produced African Numerals Mathematics books for students of Basic one, two and three as well as teacher’s guide.

THE CUSTODIAN has gathered that the three books have been recommended for effective teaching and learning at those levels by the Mathematics Association of Ghana (MAG) after a thorough assessment.

“However, we need little assistance to promote African Numerals programmes, especially African Numerals Mathematics books for basic one, two and three among some poorest children in non- performing schools” he appealed to the government.

“Finally, we would be so much thrilled if our Hon. Minister could help us get investors to invest in this African Numerals innovative wall clocks production and the Mathematics books across Africa and beyond. This investment will orientate African teachers on the use of the books and mass production of the wall clocks for the world market” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Dr Awal has commended the group for coming out with such innovative technology to promote African indigenous knowledge, intimating this would go a long way to transform African education and make teaching and learning more practicable and easier for African school children.

He therefore assured the group of his personal and also promised to collaborate with the organization to realize their vision.
