Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah aka COKA

A former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah popularly known as COKA has added his voice to the ongoing running mate slot conversation for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

COKA had advocated an Ashanti running mate whom he believed will solidify the party’s chances because of the significance of the Ashanti region votes in all of the NPP’s electoral victories.

He has therefore urged the NPP 2024 flagbearer to be firm in his search for a running mate to give the governing party total victory in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to COKA, many camps and groups will be advocating for their favourites to be chosen, and will therefore throw spite at any particular candidate of the Vice President slot who is not from their side.

In a statement on his Facebook page over the weekend, COKA stated that “Whoever Dr Bawumia selects as his running mate, Ghanaians will talk about it, being negatively or positively. Even Jesus Christ, they criticized him when he was doing good to mankind.”

He reminded Dr. Bawumia to remember 2008 when Nana Akufo-Addo was making his decision to select him as his running mate.

“His Excellency, Dr Bawumia, please ask your boss, Nana Akufo-Addo when it was time for him to select his running mate in 2008 if he had listened to some people in and out of NPP, could we have had digitalization and many other achievements spearheaded by Dr. Bawumia’s office everywhere in Ghana by now? Akufo-Addo stood on his grounds and justified why he wanted Dr. Bawumia to partner him,” COKA recounted.

He pleaded with the current Vice President not to listen to anybody, but should pick the person who will be good for him.

“People will suggest others for their personal interest but you should remember that your running mate is about you.

“Dr. Bawumia l can boldly tell you that with a research that l am privy to, out of 16 regional ministers only 2 are uncomfortable with the popular candidate, of the majority members of parliaments only 8 are uncomfortable with the person. 16 regional chairmen, only 2 are uncomfortable and out of the 275 constituency chairmen only 17 are uncomfortable. Those with eyes will see, those with pen know and those with ears will hear,” COKA gave clues on who to pick as running mate.
