The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Sampa in the Jaman North District of the Bono region.

According to the Ministry, the curfew was imposed on the advise of the Bono Regional Security Council and in accordance with the appropriate Legislative Instrument following a chieftaincy dispute.

In a press statement signed by the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, on Thursday, April 18, the Ministry announced that the curfew would commence from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am each day, effective Thursday, April 18.

“The government urges Chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area,” part of the statement read.

Additionally, the Ministry stated that there is a total ban on all persons in the Sampa township from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.

“Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
