About one hundred and twenty (120) families in the Tamale metropolis have received assorted food items from “Muslims in Diaspora Support to Ramadan” initiative to observe this year’s Ramadan and Eid-ul fitr celebration.

The beneficiary families were selected from the Wovogu, Taha and Jana communities and some also coming from Tamale township. Each beneficiary most whom were widows took home 5kg bag of rice and assorted bottle drinks.

Alhaji Salifu Abdul Dahim, a Media Practitioner and Convener of the program told THE CUSTODIAN Online the initiative was introduced to support needy families and individuals so that they perform their obligations during the spiritual month.

He underscored the significance of the items distributed and maintained vulnerable families are supported annual with various food items.

He therefore commended individuals and corporate organizations who have continued to contribute various items to support to the humanitarian exercise.    

“On behalf of the team and the beneficiaries, I want to express our appreciation and gratitude to you for your continued support to this program annually” he said, adding “We pray, in a special way to all those who have been supporting this project, be it from the past and now, those who have not been able to support, may Allah make it possible for them next year, to be able to support.”

“A special appreciation is extended to Coca Cola Bottling Company, for their annual donation of assorted soft drinks to support the programme. We also want to thank Kamila Rice for the support and also giving a special discounted price for the purchase of rice from them” he added.

Mr. Dahim further prayed for the late Hajia Anti Muni, a popular Waakye seller in Accra, who he revealed, was a regular donor to the programme.
