The Member of Parliament for Tamale North constituency, Hon Alhassan Suhuyini, in collaboration with Qatar Charity has commissioned a clinic with nurses’ quarters and mechanized borehole for the people of Choggu in his constituency.
The facility comprises consulting room, pharmacy, male and female wards, delivery unit, and quarantine.
The intervention is aimed at expanding and strengthening access to quality healthcare services among the people of Choggu and its neighboring communities.
The Tamale North lawmaker in his remarks during the commissioning on Thursday, May 2, 2024, thanked the Qatar Charity for their collaborations over the years to provide adequate healthcare infrastructure to his constituents.
He noted that this is made possible because of an enduring relationship that has been established between his office and the nongovernmental organization.
Mr. Suhuyini also commended the chief of Choggu, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai, for providing the needed parcel of land for the execution of the project.
“…And so it was not difficult for us to get this land for this structure to be put up by Qatar Charity and that is why I want to start by thanking Qatar charity and thanking the Choggu Naa for thinking about the people and collaborating to get this project done” he stated.
The National Democratic Congress legislator mentioned similar facilities have previously been built at Fuo, Ward K and Gbalahi with the benevolence of Qatar charity which has since been functional.
“It is also important to know that this is one of many projects that together with Qatar charity, we have been able to execute in Tamale North to serve the people. We have a structure like this without a sleeping quarters and without the water system in Ward K, and we have a structure in Fuo and we also have a structure like this, in fact even bigger than this at Gbalahi, all constructed by Qatar charity and all in use” he revealed.
The Country Director of Qatar charity, Dr Muhammad Ali, in his remarks said they are ready to have more collaborative projects with underserved communities and further admonished the people to make good use of the facility.
The Sagnarigu Municipal Director of Ghana Health Service, Mr. Mark Abugri, after receiving keys to the facility commended the Tamale North MP and Qatar charity. He also promised to put the facility into good use.
“…With this, the structure itself is an encouragement for staff to stay and work and I am very happy that we have this here. But what I want to say is that the place will be as useful as the community will use it, so our appeal is to the community to make good use of it and try to help us to maintain it” he added.
The chief of Choggu traditional area, Naa Mahamadu Abdulai, in his statement said the importance of healthcare cannot be overemphasized, adding healthcare is first in every sphere of life and consequently applauded Alhassan Suhuyini and the Qatar charity for the intervention.
The chief did not also mince words to caution unscrupulous members of the community to stay off the facility and allow the professionals to work without any interference whatsoever.
