The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally constituted its Standing and Sector Committees as part of efforts to strengthen internal structures, deepen policy development, and enhance overall party organisation ahead of future political engagements.
The decision was taken by the party’s National Executive Committee and National Council at a meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The committees were established in line with relevant provisions of the NPP Constitution governing party operations.
According to the Party, the Standing Committees were constituted under Article 10(2)(6), while the Sector Committees were formed in accordance with Articles 10(3)(8) and 14(5) of the Party Constitution.
Standing committees
The newly formed Standing Committees include Finance, Electoral Affairs, Disciplinary, Policy, Organisational, Research, Communications, and a Political Strategy Committee.
The Finance Committee is chaired by Fred Oware, with Dr. Charles Dwamena serving as Secretary. Other members include Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo, and Amb. Edward Boateng among others.
The Electoral Affairs Committee is chaired by Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah with Evans Nimako as Secretary, while senior party figures such as Peter Mac Manu, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful serve as members.
The Disciplinary Committee is chaired by Kwasi Amoako Atta with Elizabeth Utuka as Secretary. The Policy Committee is chaired by Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, with Dr Kwasi Nyame-Baafi serving as Secretary.
Other key committees include the Organisational Committee chaired by Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, the Research Committee chaired by Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, and the Communications Committee chaired by Nana Akomea, with Richard Ahiagbah as Secretary.
The party has also established a Political Strategy Committee under the National Council, chaired by Peter Mac Manu.
Sector committees
The party further announced the constitution of Sector Committees covering key areas of national development and governance.
These include Finance & Economy, Constitutional & Legal Affairs, Foreign Policy & Diaspora, Food & Agriculture, Education, Health, Trade, Industry & SMEs, Energy, ICT & Digital Economy, Tourism, Environment, Housing, Water and Sanitation, Roads, Transport, Security, Local Government, Gender, Youth Development, Sports, Employment, and Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Prominent members of the committees include Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Michael Okyere Baafi, and other serving and former government officials, MPs, and professionals.
Each sector committee is co-chaired by leading figures in the Party, supported by spokespersons and secretaries tasked with coordinating policy input and stakeholder engagement.
Party’s position
The NPP said the reconstitution of these committees forms part of its ongoing efforts to reposition the Party, strengthen internal governance, and improve policy direction across all sectors.
It added that the committees will provide expert guidance, support strategic decision-making, and enhance the party’s engagement with key stakeholders at both national and sectoral levels.
The party congratulated all appointed Chairpersons, Co-Chairs, Secretaries, Spokespersons, and Members, expressing confidence in their ability to execute their responsibilities diligently in the interest of the Party and the Republic of Ghana.
