A volunteer group of New Patriotic Party stalwarts known as “Agenda for Bawumia Campaign” (ABC) in the Northern Region have hit the grounds running to secure massive victory for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the 2024 Presidential candidate of the NPP.
The group held a meeting with the grassroot executives of the party including polling station and electoral area coordinators and constituency executives in Tamale over the weekend.
The participants were encouraged to reach out [far and near] to their colleagues rally support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become the flagbearer and eventually succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in January 2025.
The NPP held a successful Super delegates conference on August 26 to select five candidates out of the previous ten aspirants for the November 4 polls. In the end, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai Nimoh were selected.
Speaking to the media, Research Officer of the Group, Mr. Simon Salifu Baba said the meeting brought together the ABC coordinators in the Northern, North East and Savannah regions to discuss plans and strategize to secure convincing victory for Dr Bawumia.
“Today, we brought our coordinators from the regions and constituencies to brief them and to equip them as to what they will be doing as far as the upcoming November 4 election would be. We are saying that they should go out there and advocate the good works of His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, they should canvass for votes, they should go to every corner of their constituencies especially to the electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, constituency executives, patrons and elders of this party” he stated.
He noted Dr Mahamudu is not only competent enough to lead the party but he has also sacrificed for the party and distinguished himself to attract voters to the NPP.
“The man has done a lot for our party; he is also very competent unlike others who have been labeled as incompetent. We all know that and he has a vision for this country and indeed he is incorruptible” he stressed.
SSB as he is popularly referred emphasized the Vice President has the traits of a good leader, something he believes delegates of the party will not compromise in selecting the next flagbearer of the party and subsequently winning the general elections to become President of Ghana.
