Late Harona Esseku

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has redeemed his pledge to honour the late Harona Esseku with the construction of the Akoti Junction-Senya Beraku Road as construction works commences on the said road.

Following the President’s tour of the Central Region last month, he made a promise to upgrade the road in honour of an illustrious son of Senya-Beraku, Mr Harona Esseku.

This promise has been honoured as the contractor for the project, M/S Maripoma came on site to start work on Monday.

Before he made the pledge, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, whom the President said does not give him breathing space because of the people of Awutu Senya West, had hinted earlier on that the road will be constructed before 2024.

He gave this hint on August 21, 2022 when he stormed Senya-Beraku with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akufo Dampare, to commission an office accommodation he had refurbished and furnished for the Senya-Beraku Police District Headquarters.

It therefore came as no surprise to the people of Awutu Senya West when the President said Mr Arhin does not give him rest when it comes to the development of the area.

The construction of this road brings to three, the major roads that have been constructed in the constituency due to the effort of Mr Arhin.

The Bawjiase-Obrachire-Sweduro Road is almost completed while that of Bawjiase-Ofaakor is progressing steadily.

Mr Arhin, the brain child behind the project, visited the site last Wednesday with the District Chief Executive of the area, Mr. Joseph Aidoo, to encourage the contractor to speed up with the work.

The Akoti Junction-Senya Beraku Road is the major road that connects the fishing community to its adjoining towns.

This project will therefore facilitate the socio-economic activities of the people.

As a fishing community, the people of Senya Beraku, especially the women are largely traders who trade with the major markets in the country, including Kasoa, Tema, Kaneshie, Agbogbloshie, among others.

The construction of this road, which is the only route they use to access other towns for mutual activities is therefore critical.
