The founder of Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko remains optimistic that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will bring the Ghanaian economy back to the path of progress and posterity.
He admitted yes indeed the country in crisis just like most countries across the globe, nevertheless, he pointed out the situations differ.
According to the legal practitioner, what matters most is how the nation would come out of the present economic difficulties.
In a tweet, the Senior Partner at the Africa Legal Associates stated, “Yes, indeed, Ghana is in crisis. Most countries are in crisis now though levels differ. What matters most is how we come out of it.”
“And, I remain an incurably stubborn optimist (based on knowledge) that Nana Akufo-Addo and his team will lead us to come out of this even stronger!” he asserted.
The inflation rate in Ghana surged to 31.7% in July 2022 according to the latest Consumer Price Index and Inflation report released by the Ghana Statistical Service.
The steady depreciation of the Ghanaian currency against the dollar has inevitably impacted on the foreign exchange market increasing prices of imported products in the country.
Meanwhile, the government has secured a $750 million loan facility approved by Parliament from Afreximbank to fund some infrastructure projects in the country.
The loan is part of a $1 billion dollar facility the government is seeking to shore up its reserves as well as to pay for several infrastructure projects across Ghana.
