Mr O. B. Amoah, MP for Akuapem South

Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Mr O. B. Amoah has stated that the good governance being provided by the Akufo-Addo administration resulted in the good management of the COVID-19.

According to him, the free water and electricity that Ghanaians enjoyed for six months at the beginning of the pandemic is as a result of the prudent measures the government is pursuing in effectively managing the economy.

He pointed out that economies around the world were crushed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic while social systems were left in shambles.

However, Ghana, he reiterated, was largely spared all these because of efforts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking during the NPP delegates’ conference at of the Akuapem south constituency on Friday, Mr O. B. Amoah said the government is also working hard to ensure those who complete school get good-paying jobs.

He admitted not all graduates are fortunate to get employed immediately after school but stressed the government is working on several projects that would provide jobs for the teeming graduates.

“If you look at our constituency many graduates and youth have been provided with good jobs but we must admit there are others who are yet to get work. We are working hard to ensure you provide them with these jobs, Mr O. B. Amoah who is also a Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development stated.

He noted that not many people have enough money to engage in trading and that not every student has enough money to pay their fees at the university after going through the free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

Mr. O. B. Amoah stated the President has realized the difficulty of students, especially those in the rural areas and has instructed that government scholarship should not be awarded to only students from the capital.

“Every district has been directed to conduct its own interviews and present the names of the deserving students who should be awarded scholarships to continue their education.

“In our constituency, 52 students have presented their names and are currently undergoing the interview for selection,” he added.

The MP expressed the hope that after the interview, the majority of the 52 students would be successful and would be awarded the scholarship to further their education.
