Former Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Alan Kyerematen has summited his nomination to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary.
The flagbearer aspirant filed nomination on Monday at the party headquarters, at Asylum Down in Accra, accompanied by some supporters.
Among his supporters were seven Members of Parliament (MP) who have made known their decision to throw their weight behind Mr Kyerematen in the coming primary.
According to them, the former Trades and Industry Minister is the right candidate to lead the party.
The MPs include Peter Amewu, Hohoe constituency and Minister for Railway Development; Sylvester Tetteh, MP Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom; a Deputy Finance Minister, and MP for Atiwa East, Abena Osei Asare; MP for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah; MP for Asokwa, Patricia Appiah Adjei; and Bright Bakye Yelviel Baligi of Lambussie.
Mr Kyerematen is the first to file his nomination among the ten aspirants that have picked forms so far.
The other nine individuals who have picked nomination forms to contest the position are the former Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto; Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh; former Railways and Development Minister, Joe Ghartey; and former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
Others are former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong; Energy Consultant, Kwadwo Poku; two-time presidential aspirant, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and MP, Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong.
