The Bagre dam spillage scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday (August 11, 2026), may not take place as planned, this is according to a correspondence from SONABEL Power from Burkina Faso.
The Burkinabe counterparts in a statement to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) highlighted on the hydrological situation of the Bagre and Kompienga dams as of August 7, 2026.
According to SONABEL, the water level rise remains low, averaging approximately 1.75 cm per day since August 4, 2026.
As a result, the opening of the floodgates may not take place on Tuesday as initially planned, unless significant inflows cause a rapid rise in the reservoir level.
The upstream water level at Bagre Dam is reportedly at 232.99 m; the filling rate is 74.31%; the reservoir level is 2.01 m which is below the normal reservoir level of 235.00 m.
The statement further revealed the water level at Kompienga dam is 177.51 m; whereas the filling rate is 75.94%; and the reservoir level is 2.49 m which is below the normal reservoir level of 180.00 m.
Meanwhile, the Burkinabe authorities have promised to keep their Ghanaian partners informed of any development in the coming period.
