The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Mr Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has made a compelling and an emotional appeal to New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to vote massively for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s presidential primary on January 31, 2026.
He noted that the NPP stands a better chance of staging a political comeback in 2028 if Dr. Bawumia is elected as the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking to party delegates during the former Vice President’s campaign tour in Nsawam, Mr Annoh-Dompreh argued that the party must think strategically and choose a leader whose competence, loyalty, and future-oriented vision align with the needs of the moment.
“We need to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“If John Mahama lost and returned as President in 2025, then Bawumia, who has worked hard and served faithfully, will surely return as President in 2029. But it begins with us, we must give him the mandate,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh reiterated.
He highlighted Bawumia’s role in the digitalisation reforms that reshaped public service delivery, his economic interventions during turbulent times, and his ability to energise the party’s youth base.
Dr. Bawumia’s entry into Nsawam was met with an overwhelming show of support.
Led by Mr Annoh-Dompreh, delegates and residents lined the streets to cheer him on, turning what was intended to be a delegates’ engagement into a mini-rally.
The reception demonstrated both the constituency’s respect for Dr Bawumia and their alignment with Annoh-Dompreh’s call for renewed leadership.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP reminded delegates that Dr. Bawumia had extended consistent support to the constituency over the years, earning him goodwill and trust among constituents.
“He has helped our constituency in many ways, and he has supported me personally. “He has done no wrong to Nsawam-Adoagyiri. He deserves our unflinching support and our votes,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh urged.
Dr Bawumia’s leadership style, humility, and capacity to inspire young people, according to him, make him the former Vice President the most viable candidate to reinvigorate the party after the 2024 defeat.
Annoh-Dompreh praises Bawumia
On this part, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude for the endorsement and reiterated his readiness to lead the NPP back to power.
He praised Mr Annoh-Dompreh as a “good man” and a hardworking MP whose loyalty and leadership have contributed greatly to the party’s strength.
“Annoh-Dompreh is an exceptional leader. I am grateful for his support.
“But more importantly, I am ready to serve this party once again. I am asking you, the delegates, to vote massively for me on January 31. I want to lead the NPP into the 2028 General Election and work with dedicated people like Annoh-Dompreh to deliver real solution,” Dr Bawumia stated.
He informed the delegates that his track record particularly in digital transformation, financial reforms, and public sector innovation, demonstrates his capacity to tackle Ghana’s challenges.
