The Board Chairman of Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB Bank), Professor Joshua Alabi has paid a glowing tribute to the late King of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.
Prof. Alabi described the late Yaa Naa as an embodiment peace and unity whose reign brought significant stability to Dagbon Kingdom and the nation as a whole.
He emphasized that the traditional ruler was also the symbol of strength for his subjects and his saddened death has caused so much devastation to the area.
“Our late King, our father, was a symbol of peace, a symbol of unity and a symbol of strength not only to the people of Dagbon but the entire nation.
“And it’s sad that, at a time that we needed him most, the good Lord who knows best has taken him away from us” he maintained.
The former Northern Regional Minister made these remarks when management of the GCB Bank PLC led by the Managing Director, Mr. Farihan Alhassan Dandawa paid a courtesy visit to the Gbewaa palace to commiserate with the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Naa Yakubu Abukari and the Royal family on the passing of Yaa Naa Abukari II.
For his part, the Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. Farihan Alhassan Dandawa highlighted the existing relationship between the Bank and the Gbewaa palace over the years.
He noted that the bank has been very instrumental in the construction of the new Gbewaa palace project as part of the implementation of the Dagbon development plan.
Mr. Alhassan stated that the saddened death of the Yaa Naa has left everyone in a state of devastation.
He thereby gave an assurance that his outfit remained committed to the existing partnership with the Gbewaa palace.
Meanwhile, the bank donated an amount of GHS50,000, food items, cooking oil and a cow to support the funeral rites of the late Yaa Naa.
