The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been honoured with Excellence in Governance award, at the 8th ‘Ghana Women of The Year Honours’.
Mrs. Dapaah has held various leadership positions in government and has implemented various government policies that have improved lives and governance in the country.
In 2018, she won the Balafon Award of Excellence as the Aviation Minister of the Year in West Africa.
The ‘Ghana Women of the Year Honours’ is an award scheme instituted by Glitz Africa to celebrate women who use their expertise, position and influence to inspire others to make a difference in driving other women forward.
The Honourees were selected by an astute board of achievers who used clear and objective criteria in ensuring that the final list comprises the most deserving women in various fields.
In all, 14 women given awards for their positive roles various fields of endeavour.
The Ghana Women of the Year Honours unveils and celebrates both the Ghanaian indigenous and diaspora women who are making great impact in the society.
For the past eight years, the Honours scheme has showcased the untapped potential of womanhood and the outstanding exhibits of the empowered woman in various fields of endeavour.
Cecilia Abena Dapaah is a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NP qP) and a former Member of Parliament for the Bantama constituency for two consecutive terms.
She previously served as the deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing under President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Mrs. Abena Dapaah attended the University of Ghana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and linguistics.
She also holds a certificate in leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a postgraduate certificate in International Development Studies from the University of Oslo.
