The Newly Elected NPP Northern Region Executives

Adam Mohammed Baantima Samba has been retained as the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party at the 2022 Delegates Conference held on Friday (May 27, 2022) in Tamale.

He pulled 238 votes to defeat Alhaji Inusah Amadu also known as Dagomba Boy and Ibrahim Mahama who had 122 and one vote respectively.

The results was declared by the Northern Regional Director of Electoral Commission, Mr. Lucas Yiryil at the end of the polls.

However, the Regional Secretary, Alhaji Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu, failed to retain his position which has been won by Dr Hudu Zakaria, a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS). The incumbent displayed an uninspired performance and managed to pull 39 votes.

Dr Hudu Zakaria pulled an overwhelming 198 votes against his closest contender, Iddrisu Abukari who had 102 votes, Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu getting 39 and Musah Mutawakilu managing 19 votes.

The vacant Assistant Secretary has now been occupied by Aniwaba Kwaku Bediako Jeremiah who secured 258 out of 362 votes cast to beat his three competitors in the race.

Meanwhile, Abdul Fatawu Adam Danjega, in his second attempt has won the race to become the NPP Northern Region NPP Nasara Coordinator. He had 190 votes to unseat the incumbent, Alhaji Sham-Una Illiasu, performed poorly with his 36 votes to retain the position. The third candidate, Abdul Rahaman Samari had 134 votes.

On the other hand, the Regional Organizer, Alhaji Salifu Rashid (COP) retained his position with a huge votes margin between himself and his contender, Benjamin Mensah.

The Youth Organizer, Mohammed Alhassan (Ghana) despite the stiff competition from Abdul Mumin Salifu (COP) managed to retain the position.

The Women’s Organizer, Hajia Rahana Aziz, also enjoyed a mammoth victory securing 210 votes out of 361 but her two competitors, Hajia Rahi Yahaya and Hajia Suraiya Manan pulled 64 and 87 votes respectively.

Mr Yussif Toyibo who went into the elections in an acting capacity pulled 206 votes to defeat Huseini Abubakari Sadiq who had 152 votes to become the NPP Regional Treasurer.  

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Northern Region Elections Committee, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, after taking the elected officers through the oath of office thanked everyone for their cooperation and understanding during the period, stating from today, the work of the committee and I have ended and we have handed back the party to the Chairman and his executives.

He stated the NPP is stronger any individual and called on everyone to come together, hold together and keep together, so that the party can defeat the NDC in 2024.

He added Ghanaians still want good governance and the party must prepare to hand the NDC another defeat in the next general elections.
