The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged lynching of a young man identified as Yibonwura to death at Daboya in the North Gonja district of the Savannah Region.
Preminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that the victim was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing sheanuts.
The victim subsequently died from the injuries sustained during the assault. The assault was captured in a video circulating on social media.
Consequently, the suspects, Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter and Issah Mahama, 22, a student were arrested following investigations into the incident.
The Savannah Regional Police Commander, DCOP David Kamdaro who confirmed the arrest in a statement dated Wednesday, August 26, 2026, disclosed that the two arrested suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations.
He added that a manhunt is also underway to apprehend a third suspect, who is currently at large.
Investigations are also ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all persons connected to the crime are brought to justice.
