She further encouraged them to remain disciplined and uphold the values of honesty, humility and hard work.
“Remember that you are not studying for yourselves alone. Your families have invested in you, your communities are looking forward to your success, and Savelugu needs your knowledge, skills and talents” she added.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker made these remarks when she presented an amount of GHS300,000 scholarship funds to some two hundred (200) underprivileged students in her constituency to pursue tertiary education across the country.
In her address, the Savelugu MP said that educating the youth is a shared responsibility and highlighted the need for parents and guardians to continue encouraging their wards to take their education seriously.
She added educational institutions must also maintain high standards and a call for community leaders to also support efforts for the expansion of educational opportunities.
She observed that the cost of tertiary education can be overwhelming for many families and intimated that behind every student struggling to pay fees is a family making sacrifices and a young person whose dreams deserve an opportunity to flourish.
Hajia Fatahiya therefore indicated this substantial investment reflects her commitment to helping these young people to overcome financial barriers and pursue their educational ambitions.
“As your Member of Parliament, I remain committed to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of our people, particularly our youth, within the resources available to me.
“Together, we must build a constituency where financial hardship does not destroy ambition and where every young person has a fair opportunity to succeed” the MP assured.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker has implored the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity available, remain focused, and take their studies seriously. She said those who did not benefit this year should remain hopeful.
