The Executive Director for the National Service Secretariat, (NSS) has cautioned Service Personnel not to deal with faceless individuals on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

Before this year’s postings were out, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi said the secretariat had highlighted on this that the NSS do not work through WhatsApp with personnel.

He disclosed the headquarters has a platform through which they communicate with their people and therefore urged the unsuspecting service persons not to work with any information in the public domain without verifying that.

“In fact, I have to thank the Head of Corporate. Before the exercise started he actually came out on various platforms, in fact, we have a platform where we’re able to send text messages to all of them (All those students) across the country. We did send first messages to them – there are people out, faceless people out trying to lure by paying money for them to be posted”

The former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive made these remarks to Journalists during his working visit to Tamale last Friday (October 15, 2021).

He further warned the personnel not to entertain any faceless and unscrupulous person but rather report such persons for the necessary actions to be taken against them.

He said, “Even among the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ there was Judas there, so anytime you’re coming out with a system, note that definitely, some people sitting somewhere would want to rock the boat but we’re aware and we’re actually working seriously and now because of the system that we’re using – if you allow them to take your money, you will not get through.”

81, 000 personnel deployed

The NSS Boss stated more than 81,000 graduates from various tertiary institutions have been deployed nationwide to undertake the constitutional mandated national service.

Throughout the nation, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi said text messages have been sent to individuals who are on hold, explaining to them reasons why they are on hold.

“We’ve sent them text messages and enquired from them things that they have to provide at the various regional offices nearer to them. So as soon as they send those items to the regional offices then we will take them through and after that we will clear” he added.

He explained a lot of these people have problems with their pictures, adding that, “We told them when they’re filling their forms they have to use the passport photograph but it will surprise you that there were some of the pictures taken where you see a lady with the baby; definitely, the system will reject it.”

“Now we’re using a robust system, we’re using a metric app and so when you’re a metric app, it is the information that you’ve given to the machine that the machine will use to audit and the machine has been served with a notice that it is a passport picture, so if you use a full picture it will be reject” he emphasized.
