Twelve (12) suspects are in police grips for unlawful possession and transportation of five hundred and ninety-eight (598) cartons of BB cartridges at Nsakye near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, Emmanuel Tsornyake, driver of the DAF articulated truck with registration number EN 792-19; Ofori Jumbo; Paul Darko; Charles Laryea; Theophilus Laryea; and George Teye, were arrested while loading the ammunition into a specially designed compartment in the truck.
Three others, Noah Tretsu, Eric Danquah, and Billy Gamati, were also arrested for their suspected involvement.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement, noted the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday, 28th October, 2025, by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) at the Headquarters.
The police said preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects had allegedly concealed 317 cartons of live cartridges and 281 empty cartons inside the trailer to avoid detection.

The statement added that the operation team acted swiftly after confirming intelligence that the truck was being used to transport ammunition from the farm.
Meanwhile, further investigations have led to the arrest of three additional suspects, including Ebenezer Okyere, who mentioned Samuel Kwadjo Baffoe as the owner of the cartridges.
Suspect Baffoe was later arrested at Amasaman, where he identified one Gloria Bartels as his supplier. He further disclosed that he supplied the ammunition to two Nigerians, identified as Tony and Chika, for export to Nigeria.
Consequently, all twelve suspects are in police custody assisting investigations and will be arraigned before the court in the coming days.
