The internal rancor within the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party in the Yendi constituency has taken a twist of dimension. According to some NPP aspirants in the constituency, one Alhaji Aminu Amadu, who is a member of the Council of State from Yendi and some supposed ‘Big Man’ closer to the Jubilee House, the seat of government, are fighting the NPP Yendi Member of Parliament, Farouk Aliu Mahama because of their hatred for his father, the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
“It’s for the selfish interest of people like Alhaji Aminu Amadu and his surrogates, that, this election was suspended” they alleged.
Addressing Journalists on Thursday after the constituency polls was called off; the incumbent constituency Secretary, Dr Bawa Fuseini Zakaria, asserted that, a meeting held with the Chief of Staff recently concluded that, “we were coming to conduct elections in the 18 constituencies except Savelugu, what has changed?”
“The present political gymnastics being performed in Yendi is as a result of dishonesty on the part of the so called power brokers who’re called in quote the ‘Big Men’, the likes of Alhaji Aminu Amadu and his colleagues and the presidency, who hated the late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama and now wants to revisit their hatred by transferring their anger onto his son” he criticized.
Dr Bawa blamed the Council of State member and people he described detractors for the development gap in the Yendi municipality and urged them to rather direct or channel their energies to the development of Yendi and stop the unpatriotic behavior.
“Our patience is not cowardice, it is bravery the greatest with maturity is dignified by prosperity and that is what the Member of Parliament, Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama stands for but that’s what Alhaji Aminu and his colleagues are opposed to” he said.
The disgruntled party members stated it is when justice is being handcuffed that violence is released as a monster and they were no long going to tolerate any uncultured wisdom to the detriment of the party, adding peace is the legitimate son of justice.
He added “It is good to always to hear everything from everybody but it is better to filter what is heard on the script of rationality and objectivity; that is the only way we can sieve facts from friction. The fact is Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama and the friction is Alhaji Aminu Amadu and his colleagues” he proclaimed.
Meanwhile, delegates from the 30 electoral areas numbered about 789 people massed up at the elections center only to be informed about the cancelation.
The disappointed delegates angrily registered their displeasure using some unprintable words and suggested it was an attempt to sabotage the MP.
