Officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reportedly attempted to arrest the Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Reports stated that the MP said the reported attempt was linked to claims that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah had failed to honour invitations from EOCO to assist with investigations into the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
The sources, however, maintained that the MP had not received any invitation from EOCO.
They further alleged that the reported arrest attempt was aimed at silencing the MP over his public defence of Salomey Baffoe, who is alleged to be an accomplice of the operator of the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
The circumstances surrounding the reported incident remain unclear, including whether EOCO formally invited the MP and the legal basis for any intended arrest.
Videos circulated on the various social media platforms show a woman identifying herself as an EOCO officer asking the MP to accompany her to the office. The MP declined the request and was subsequently seen driving away in his Toyota V8 vehicle, with the EOCO officials following him.
EOCO has yet to publicly comment on the reported incident.
