Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, Member of Parliament for Yendi

The hard work and perseverance of Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has paid off as he is ranked among the Best Performing Members of Parliament for 2022.

The milestone is a significant achievement for the first-term legislator who assumed office for barely two years to be categorized among the top 25 out of 275 MPs in Ghana’s Parliament.

An assessment has done on the performance of all 275 lawmakers in the eighth Parliament and the representative of the people of Yendi scored 66.3% placing him as the 22nd best performing MP in Ghana.

The benchmarks for the evaluation exercise were anchored on the frequent visits of the MPs to their respective constituencies, the nature of their visits, projects executed by them, constituents’ expectations of the MP, activities of the MP liked by constituents, activities of the MP disliked by constituents and constituents’ ability to communicate with their Member of Parliament.

The Yendi lawmaker in August 2022 was recognized as one of the Top 30 Achievers with an honorary recognition from the Alumni of Coventry University, United Kingdom.

Mr. Farouk Aliu Mahama since the inception of his administration as the representative of the people has engineered several initiatives and interventions to transform the constituency.

The MP set out after assuming office with the New Yendi City project to ensure youth and women empowerment. He has also helped women farmers with agricultural inputs to boost crop production to generate substantial income.

The Yendi municipality has also received massive facelift in the rehabilitation and construction of road networks in the area.

The efforts of Alhaji Farouk through his New Yendi City Project has also reflected on infrastructural rehabilitation in the health sector and education, logistical support, absorption of examination fees for students, teacher motivation among others.

He has also constructed water facilities for several communities to improve the people’s access to portable drinking water and connected about 19 communities to the nation electricity grid.
