The Member of Parliament for Yendi - Farouk Aliu Mahama

The Member of Parliament for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, has said peace and unity is crucial for the governing New Patriotic Party and has therefore urged the grassroot of the party to respect one another, uphold mutual trust and remain focus to improve the overwhelming voter figures in the 2020 general elections.

“I shall continue to provide the needed encouragement and support at the grassroot. Let us put our shoulders to the wheels. With almighty Allah in our vessel, we shall smile at every storm” he said.

The NPP lawmaker whilst addressing the Yendi Constituency Annual Delegates Conference Sunday morning (May 1, 2022), noted the reorganization process is geared towards strengthening and boosting the collective and noble determination of the party as well as promote unity within the ranks, energize the base to propel the chances of breaking the eight without breaking the front.

“We are one big family with a common destiny, so there is no need to fight among ourselves. We have to unite and work for the NPP to lead Yendi to the promised land. Unity is a powerful tool for achieving shared vision. If we work together, we will win together; if we divide, we will lose together” the MP emphasized.

The comments of Mr. Farouk come in the wake fierce opposition and agitations within the constituency executives and supporters of the NPP against the recently compiled voters register for the constituency executives’ election.

This necessitated the intervention of the National Steering Committee to engage the relevant stakeholders for redress before a new date was set for the polls originally scheduled for last Thursday, April 28, 2022.

MP’s Achievements

The Member of Parliament however seized the occasion to highlight of his achievements in the constituency in the past two years.

He pointed out some interventions made to tackle the Yendi water crisis, the rural electrification initiative, youth and women empowerment, education, sanitation, agriculture among others.

Farouk Aliu Mahama stated further that, the practice whereby polling station executives renege on their duties and wait till election seasons to campaign must be looked at again, saying, “Let’s get to work and do what we have to do now.”
