Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the company of former Second Lady of Ghana, Hajia Ramatu Mahama

The Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said the late Hajia Ramatu, spouse of the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, was a great source of inspiration and a loving mother to him.

“I have learnt with sadness the passing of H.E Hajia Rahmatu Mahama, former Second Lady of the Republic” the Vice President wrote on his official Facebook page.

He has therefore prayed for the eternal rest of Mrs. Mahama who died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Thursday (April 7, 2022) where she was battling with heart related condition.

“May the Almighty Allah welcome her and also grant her Jannatul Firdaus” Dr Mahamudu Bawumia prayed.

THE CUSTODIAN has gathered that the mortal remains of Mrs. Aliu Mahama would be airlifted to Tamale for burial Friday morning. This will be done in accordance with the customs and tradition of the Islamic religion.

She turned age 70 last October.

The former Second Lady is the mother of the Member of Parliament for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama and three others.

She is the daughter of the late Imoro Egala, one time Ghana’s Minister for Trade and Industry and the first black Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board under the first Republic.

Hajia Ramatu Mahama was an educationist in Tamale and her love and care for pupils earned her the nickname, “Mma Ramatu”.
