The Chief Executive Officer of NDA - Lawyer Sule Sambian

The NEW Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Lawyer Sule Sambian, has given an assurance of his commitment to carry to the latter, the vision for the establishment of the authority.

“I have come at a time that the story is not too good but I am not willing to focus on the past, I am looking into the future – looking into the future with hope. I want to leave a legacy here” he stated.

The legal practitioner assumed office last Wednesday (March 15, 2023) following his appointment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to succeed Mr. Sumaila Abdul Rahaman, the immediate past Chief Executive Officer standing trial with three others at the Tamale High Court.

Addressing Journalists on his first day in office after meeting officials from the British High Commission in Ghana, Mr. Sambian noted, “there are a number of low-hanging fruits that we can tap to facilitate development in the north.”

“As we all know that the Northern Development Authority was setup by government to propel development across the north. And if you have investors coming from the UK who are interested in ensuring that they develop or invest in the north, we can only be happy and I must say that I am very happy to be part of this meeting” he added.

Meanwhile, the NDA officials took turns to highlight the various viable investment opportunities in the northern ecological zone in the areas of agriculture, tourism, trade and industrialization, housing among others.

The authority also assured of facilitating the acquisition of land devoid of any controversy or litigation for international investors coming to invest in the area.

Mr. Dwight Godlove Otoo, Business Advisor at the United Kingdom Department for Business and Trade, for his part said the meeting was to explore the potential investment opportunities in Northern Ghana in order to share information with UK investors for their considerations.

“Its obvious that the opportunities are enormous, there are significant opportunities in energy, agriculture, infrastructure, aquaculture – name them – several of them; what’s important for us going forward and for us is to be able to see specific actual investments happening on the ground and to work with partners who are on the ground, who know where the opportunities are and know which specific partners to speak to” he said.

He added the overall objective of it is to create jobs, opportunities and broader development in the northern part of the country.

Godlove Otoo therefore maintained it will be counterproductive not to work with the Northern Development Authority.
