Former Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency, Joseph Osei Owusu, will chair the planning committee mandated to organize the upcoming Annual National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) slated for July 19, 2025, in Accra.
The nine member committee will have the NPP National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye Esq. as Vice Chairman and the Deputy General Secretary, Alhaji Haruna Mohammed as the Secretary. The other members include Dr. Charles Dwamena (Member), Divine Otoo Agorhum (Member), Hon. Abena Osei Asare (Member), Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib (Member), Hajia Safia Mohammed (Member) and Salam Mustapha (Member).
“In respect of the organization of the Annual National Delegates Conference, the Party constituted a 9-member Conference Planning Committee to spearhead the preparations for the Conference, which is scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, from 18th to 20th July 2025” Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP announced in a statement dated Wednesday, June 18.
The General Secretary also urged all NPP members particularly delegates to the Conference to peruse the amendment proposals by his office, adding this shall be reduced into amendment motions by the Constitution Amendment Committee to guide the considerations and debate at the Extraordinary National Delegates Conference.
The National Delegates Conference will bring together delegates of the party from 276 constituencies and 16 regions to discuss and take very critical decisions to guide the future direction of the party.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party has also January 31, 2026, to elect the party’s Presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
The General Secretary said the Constitution Amendments Committee in their report presented to National Council recommended to the Council to fix an early date for the conduct of the Presidential primaries based on the overwhelming proposals from party members and the extensive stakeholder engagements they held.
Justin Kodua stated that the Frank Davies-led Constitution Amendments Committee submitted a compilation of the amendment proposals it received from Party Members and Identifiable Groups to the General Secretary for onward circulation to Regional and Constituency Secretariats of the Party in line with Article 19(b) of the Constitution ahead of the Delegates Conference.
