A Deputy National Youth Organizer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suffered a backlash from the traditional leaders in Ketu North for politicising upcoming Deze Festival of Dzodze in Ketu North Constituency in Volta Region.
Edem Agbanna who is desperately nursing ambition to replace the MP for Ketu North, Mr. James Avedzi, has sprinkled many Bill boards across the community, welcoming prospective participants to the Deze Festival.
This move by the NDC Deputy Youth Organiser has angered many stakeholders of the festival including the chiefs, local organisers and the youth at large.
Reacting to this apparent political scenery, Martin Azaglo, on Dzodze Dua Platform, which thecustodianghonline.com has intercepted, raised number of Concerns below:
“Good evening to the Chiefs and people of Dzodze. Taking a closer look at the billboard, I think it is problematic. Festivals and Politics must not be entertained. Traditional rulers host festivals and must welcome people to those festivals. I’m yet to witness a festival where chiefs have not mounted billboards to welcome people, planning committees have not welcomed people, civil leadership have not welcomed participants but individuals mounting billboards to welcome invitees. This is so wrong! Now, a few questions to be answered.
1. Has Edem sought permission from the Municipal Assembly to mount these billboards and same granted? I’m certain the MCE is on this platform; he should be answering this question.
2. Have the Chiefs granted any such permission for these billboards to be mounted in respect of the festival? I ask this question because the festival is at their behest.
3. Has the CPC, who have been authorized by the chiefs to organize this festival on their behalf granted any such permission for these billboards to be mounted?
4. Can any native of Dzodze, who has the money to mount billboards, do same on the streets welcoming participants to the festival?
“Let us not for political expediency disrespect traditional festivities and authorities”
Many indigenes of Ketu North are worried over Edem’s desperation to mount Bill Boards without any approval from appropriate authorities.
In some circles, Edem is being referred by his colleagues as Honorable MP in waiting.
