President John Dramani Mahama has paid a visit to the residence of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to commiserate with the Rawlings family following her passing.
The president was accompanied by First Lady Lordina Mahama and a delegation of government officials.
The visit formed part of efforts to express solidarity and extend condolences to the family.
During the visit, President Mahama conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, describing the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings as a trailblazer and a strong pillar in Ghana’s democratic journey.

He acknowledged her immense contribution to women’s empowerment, political activism, and national development through her leadership of the 31st December Women’s Movement.

Mrs. Lordina Mahama also offered words of comfort, recalling the late First Lady’s dedication to improving the welfare of women and children across the country.

The delegation signed a book of condolence in honour of Nana Konadu, whose passing has drawn tributes from across the political spectrum and beyond Ghana’s borders.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of Ghana’s longest-serving Head of State, was a key figure in Ghana’s political history and the founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Her death marks the end of an era for one of Ghana’s most prominent political families. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
