The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu addressing Muslim Congregants at the Jubilee Park - Tamale for Eid-ul-Adha

The youth within the northern region have been encouraged to maintain self-discipline, humbleness and keep to the comportment as exhibited in the just ended month Ramadan.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, says the Islamic religion in itself means peace, and as such, the youth should learn to emulate that.

“It is my fervent wish that, all the supplications we made throughout this holy month would be accepted by the Almighty Allah. I wish to encourage us within the region to keep up with the comportment, humbleness and self-discipline that the holy month preaches.”

Whilst addressing the Muslim community at the Tamale Jubilee Park on Monday (May 2, 2022) in commemoration of Eid-ul Fitr, the Minister used this opportunity to encourage the people to choose dialogue at all times as a better option in resolving their grievances, rather than using violent means.

He noted it was rather disheartening that, during the month of Ramadan, there was an unfortunate incident which resulted in loss of lives and properties at the Zakoli community in the Yendi Municipality.

Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu added the recent disturbances within the Tamale Metropolis which also created an uproar during the Ramadan period was equally unfortunate.

“I wish to also urge everyone to choose peace as a guiding principle to live by, as we cannot compromise the peace we enjoy as a region” the Minister reiterated.

He however assured that the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) in collaboration with the Chiefs and Religious leaders will continue to do their best as they have done in the past to ensure there is relative peace and stability within the region.

In view of this, the REGSEC Chairman indulged the youth to be law abiding and respect authorities so as to bring about more development to the region.
