The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says it is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, before a weekend court.
This follows his voluntary surrender to EOCO on October 1, 2026, at about 10 a.m., as part of investigations into a GH¢2.2 million payment made to his former law firm for legal services in a matter involving SIC Life.
In a statement issued on October 2, EOCO said the suspect was cooperating with the Office as it continued with the necessary investigative, procedural and operational processes.
“Mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail, the Office is fervently working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Suspect before a weekend court,” EOCO said.
EOCO also urged the public to disregard reports that it had granted Nana Baffour Awuah GH¢50 million bail.
“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GH¢50 million bail,” the statement said.
Nana Baffour Awuah surrendered to EOCO after the Office obtained a warrant for his arrest in connection with its investigation.
His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, had earlier indicated that the MP could spend the night at EOCO as questioning continued.
