The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, says he has filed a Writ of Summons against the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, over what he describes as false statements made against him.
In a statement dated Monday, September 28, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said the legal action was filed against the two individuals for allegedly “spewing falsehoods” about him.
Baffour Awuah named Bernard Bediako Baidoo, the MP for Akwatia, and Abubakar Alhassan, also known as Blakk Rasta, as the persons cited in the suit.
“I have today, 28th September 2026, filed a Writ of Summons against the underlisted persons for spewing falsehoods against my person,” he stated.
The Manhyia South legislator said he had deliberately chosen to pursue the matter through the civil courts rather than seek criminal prosecution over the alleged publication of false information.
“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he said.
His decision to seek legal redress comes amid a wider dispute surrounding the alleged detention of Madam Salomey Awiti Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan.
According to the MP, the two women are currently being held in police custody following what he described as an attempt by state security agents to intimidate and silence him.
He alleged that Salomey Baffoe was “kidnapped by state security agents” in the late hours of Saturday and remains in police custody.
Baffour Awuah maintained that the alleged intimidation would not deter him from pursuing the matter.
“The above having been said, I wish to state that the attempt by the government to intimidate and silence me in my quest to fight for the poor mother of three (3) minor children who was kidnapped by state security agents… and remains in police custody has failed.”
The MP said his focus remains on securing the release of the two women and facilitating their reunion with their families.
“I remain committed to fighting for Madam Salomey Awiti Bafoh’s liberty as well as Camilla Alhassan to ensure that they are reunited with their family who await their return.”

Bernard Baidoo, the MP for Akwatia, commented on the recent incident involving Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, during which Baffour Awuah was allegedly subjected to an attempted arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) outside the Accra High Court.
Baidoo stated that the encounter was not a formal arrest but an invitation, arguing that arresting a lawmaker requires specific legal processes that were not observed.
He characterised the EOCO official’s actions as incompetent, suggesting that the agency should have formally communicated with the Speaker of Parliament rather than attempting a direct confrontation.
Baidoo also criticized former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for what he called hypocrisy regarding the protection of free speech, contrasting Bawumia’s recent comments with the treatment of Salomey Awiti Baffoe, a nurse represented by Baffour Awuah in the “Ghana Jollof” case.
