The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Mamprusi Municipality in the North East region, Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintale has commended Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for ordering for the provision of 5,280 Dual Desk furniture for 66 schools in the municipality.
The 2024 flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) provided the financial support for the dual desks following a request made to him by the Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the West Mamprusi Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) to support some of the distressed schools in the area.
Vice President Bawumia in his response directed the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly as a matter of urgency to construct the 5,280 dual Desk to support about 10,000 pupils in various schools at various communities in the municipality.
Vice President Bawumia has directed that local Artisans from the municipality should be engaged to do the work in order to boost local economic development.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Education has been asked to come to the aid of the remaining schools with furniture challenges in the district.
This is the second time the Vice President has supported education with furniture for the last three years, as he gave 1,000 dual Desk in the year 2022 to the District Assembly for distribution.
