Two medical practitioners and five others were injured following a violent attack at a private residence in Ajasco, a suburb of Accra, on the night of August 3, 2024.
The incident, which occurred between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., involved a group of unidentified masked individuals who reportedly forced their way into the residence during a private gathering.
Among the victims were Mr. Okyere Ernest and Mr. Edmond Egyiri, both medical practitioners, who were present with five other individuals at the time of the incident.
According to accounts from some victims, relatives, and neighbours, the assailants accused the group of engaging in homosexuality.
The attack resulted in multiple injuries, with Mr. Ernest reportedly suffering severe harm, including breathing difficulties that required urgent medical attention and days of treatment.
The victims subsequently reported the incident to the police. However, sources indicate that the response from authorities has raised concerns, as no arrests have been made and the victims reportedly received limited protection despite fears for their safety.
The incident has sparked concern among residents in Ajasco and surrounding communities, with calls for increased security presence and thorough investigations to ensure accountability.
As of the time of filing this report, police have not issued an official statement regarding the attack.
