A self-acclaimed socialist and propagandist Member of Parliament (MP) whose name and political affiliation will be wrapped in secrecy for now, is amassing inordinate wealth against his own beliefs.
Even though he touts himself as a socialist, he has amassed so much wealth that will unsettle the bones of socialist revolutionary Karl Marx and founders of socialism who profusely fought for the working class.
The MP who is former deputy minister and noted for constantly preaching frugality, transparency and accountability, is on a property grabbing spree without any proper record of working outside politics to merit such opulent display of affluence.
The third term lawmaker, has become so wealthy that keen observers believe he is on course to rub shoulders with the Nouveau riche, movers and shakers in the society.
Information gathered, indicates that the MP in question is acquiring a number of giant properties and businesses across the country
His obscene wealth is said to be attracting and raising eyebrows even within his own political party with questions popping up as to his source of funds.
This, according to party insiders, is gradually making him untouchable within his party.
The said MP resides at the Airport Hills, an affluent area in the national capital.
Aside his Airport Hills mansion, the loud lawmaker allegedly owns a palatial mansion in his home town in the Volta Region from where he represents his people in Parliament.
At a time, many are grumbling and crying over hardships, the lawmaker has grabbed so much that he has additional massive property busily being constructed at Adjirigano, another affluent community in Accra.
There have also been rumours of the MP hiring flights for a wedding ceremony and parties in the past and always carrying huge sums of money in his car with some reportedly stolen.
It is also observed that the MP now has a fleet of luxurious vehicles in sharp contrast with a Golf 2 car, which he managed as his only vehicle whilst living as a private citizen.
Even the modest vehicle was said to have been donated to him by a former National Security capo.
Before entering into politics and parliament where it is believed he grabbed his money, the MP claimed to have worked as a small office consultant even though there is no record to that effect.
The lawmaker also operated as a supposed anti-corruption crusader with street protests before getting appointment in 2009 and entering Parliament in 2013 for the first time.
He is believed to have had his breakthrough when he was appointed a deputy minister in 2009.
The MP is a product of Ghana’s premier university where his results were withheld for student vandalism until his incursion into frontline politics leading to the eventual released of the results.
According to information gleaned, this singular action by the university cost him the chance to pursue law education at the Law Faculty of the same institution.
