The Sagnarigu Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Alhassan Alidu Jnr, has taken over as the caretaker Regional Director of Education in the Northern Region following the transfer of the Regional Director, Hajia Katumi Natogmah Attah, to head the Greater Accra Region as the new Director of Education.
In her address at brief handing over ceremony on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Hajia Katumi Natogmah Attah expressed her profound gratitude to the Directors of Education, Regional Education Officers, and all stakeholders in the region for their unwavering support and collaboration throughout her tenure from May 2023 to February 2025.
She further urged all staff and partners to extend the same support to caretaker Director to ensure continued progress in the education sector in the region.
Before the official handover, Hajia Katumi met separately with the Directors of Education, Regional Education Staff, the leadership of CHASS, TEWU, GNAT, and some Civil Society Organizations. During these engagements, she delivered her farewell message, highlighting the successes and achievements during her tenure, challenges, and the way forward.
For his part, Mr. Alhassan Alidu Jnr, in his remarks, commended Hajia Katumi for her outstanding leadership and seamless transition process. He pledged to build upon the successes achieved and continue the good initiatives for the betterment of education in the region. He further assured that he would not hesitate to seek guidance whenever necessary.
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Education Directorate, Directors of Education, the education sector unions among the key stakeholders extended their appreciation to outgoing Regional Director for her dedicated service and wish her success in her new role in the Greater Accra Region.
