The Nanumba South District Chief Executive - Mr Issifu Zakaria

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Nanumba South District in the northern region, Mr. Issifu Zakaria has been confirmed.

A total of 40 Assembly Members consisting of 12 government appointees and 28 elected members voted in the polls conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana on Friday October 1, 2021.

The nominee pulled 28 votes representing 70 percent while 12 voted NO to oppose the nomination of the former New Patriotic Party Wulensi Sonstituency Secretary.

Mr. Issifu Zakaria in his acceptance remarks said his confirmation was packed with joy, happiness and peace, positing that, “It has not been a smooth journey but at the end of the day victory has come our way, it is a shared victory.”

The District Chief Executive deeply thanked President Akufo-Addo for giving him what he said is a rear privilege to serve as the Chief Executive for the Nanumba South District.

He also commended the Northern Regional Minister and his predecessor, Munkaila Natogmah, for the various roles they played for his confirmation.

“I want the Honorable Regional Minister to convey this to Mr President, that, anytime he hears a cock crow, then it means it is his representative for Nanumba South District expressing his gratitude to him.

“Politically, I belong to the New Patriotic Party – it is a big honor that the party has done me, by allowing me to serve in various capacities that has actually enriched my CV and made me what I am today. To my party I owe you everything and it is endless”

Mr. Issifu Zakaria however called on all and sundry to join hands together to bridge the development gap in the district.

“I recall the Hon outgoing DCE in his presentation said the district is faced with a lot of challenges. Yes! That is admittable but they’re not unsurmountable – we can overcome them. Therefore, I call on everybody to put hands on desk; let’s put our shoulders on the wheels so that at the end of the day, we can have a successful story to tell” he implored.
